ARRRRRRGH

Well, this is one of the MOST frustrating things in my life right now. I'll fill you in briefly:

18 months ago we made a deal with a local Benjamin Moore rep (she happens to be a friend of ours): she needed a space for some paint demos and we needed our house painted. So we lent her our small warehouse and in return, our house would be painted. Awesome, awesome deal. Well, fast forward to today--the house is STILL unpainted. Apparently the painter the company has hired for this job just hasn't had time, or the weather's been bad, or he's got too many jobs lined up, etc etc. This has gone on and on. It's been a major bone of contention in our household for the last year or so. It's become painful to even mention. So we call the painter and leave messages, and the rep calls the painter and leaves messages, and nothing happens.

And this morning I was up in the studio painting and I see a city car pull up to our driveway and this guy gets out and starts taking photos of our house. I lean out of the window and ask what's going on and he says we have 30 days to get the house painted or we'll be fined. It's an eyesore. We'll be getting the papers in the mail next week.

I just felt like exploding.

Mostly because our house is pretty ugly, but it's not THAT bad--there are houses in our neighborhood that are literally falling apart and are an actual danger to people. Plus there are crackhouses and all kinds of awfulness everywhere in our neighborhood. And the city comes to MY house to bug ME about some paint!

But mostly I just want to scream because we want our house painted too--we HATE the way our house looks now.

Grrrrr... I'm gonna go make some phone calls.

you have a beautiful house! someone in your neighborhood must've reported yours. i hate that sort of testiness.

i hope your phone calls of the day brook some sort of cavalry save of the last moment.

Well, I called the paint rep and she's going to lean hard on the painter and hold him responsible for any fines we might get. Maybe that'll get the point across.

And thank you--I really do love our home, but that pinkish paint is really just awful.

Arrrgh is right- how frustrating- and your house looks wonderful in the picture. Eye sore? I don't think so- I bet I could find 20 houses in worse condition within a half mile of your house. Good luck!

I think you should paint it the exact same shade of pink. That would get 'em!

P.S. It's all those years as a Milliff. They're rubbing off on me.

Eyesore!? Madness, you have a darling house. I like your paint-job better than the one next door though, maybe he meant to take a photo of that one!

I'd be getting a different painter if this one can't get himself together. You're right though, if he finds himself responsible for fines, that might have him suddenly find some spare time for you.

I love your house. I can't see why ANYONE would complain about it. It's really charming. xox ~Elaine

That's lame..I'm assuming a neighbor of yours called the city and complained. Nothing worse than trying to get people to do THEIR JOBS..hello! I feel your frustration and am glad to see that maybe something will be done about it soon. Make sure they show you the paint before they start painting or you may wind up with something other than the shade you wanted.
