Esther's party was Sunday and the kids all seemed to have fun. I'm completely out of my element when it comes to parties--especially throwing one. I was a nervous wreck for most of the week, almost dreading it. But it all went pretty smoothly--the cake turned out okay, Esther was great (not a completely overstimulated mess like I feared), no one barfed or needed a trip to the ER, and no one was overly bored--SUCCESS!

On another note, Spring is waddling in like some tawdry old slut--there's a pancake-make up smear of green over her craggy features, and all the imperfections of winter are glaringly apparent. It's supposed to snow Friday, so that just adds to the trainwreck. And I've been so looking forward to Spring--I wish she'd quit dragging her ass.

Beautifully put about Spring this year. The party looked fun and the cake is huge...HELLO! Anyway..I'm just a closet lurker coming out. Pay me no mind. btw -> Your paintings are amazing.
Thanks Elaine! I'm all about lurking, too.
Yeah, the cake looks huge, but there was nothing left of it by the party's end!
I think you're the only other mom I heard who feels out of her element throwing a party. Last year I lost sleep over if the party would be interesting (ok, we're talking about two year olds here), if anyone would show up,what do I feed them, etc. It wound up being a blast and went by fast (I barely had time to get any pics) but I'm already wondering what I'm suppose to do for a bunch of three year olds in November. And forget about making a cake..I don't bake anything! I don't know how my mom did all of those years. I'm a wallflower at parties and I'm now in charge of throwing them..and my critics are going to be in training diapers.
I hear you about spring being slow. Tomorrow it's suppose to be 78 here and yet there is snow in our back alley way..go figure
Oh Christine!
Well, I'm just glad it's not only me freaking out over parties! It sounds like we're in the same boat. I wouldn't call myself antisocial, exactly, but I'm much better one on one than in a group. I've always been a wallflower, too, and shy (especially if I'm in unfamiliar territory). I guess that's why this is the first real birthday party Esther has had.
I actually love baking and that helps, but I swear it would have saved me a few gray hairs to have just ordered a damn cake from somewhere.
And tha weather! Don't even get me started--it's flurrying snow outside right now. EVIL.
