I miss painting. I miss it a lot. It's been months now since I've been able to paint for hours at a stretch. Things are so busy with work and kids and household stuff. Ricky's still working full time at his day-job, and then evenings and weekends at his motorcycle shop. We are BUSY people!
And I just had to face facts that working part-time and painting part-time wasn't cutting it, but the move to that steady paycheck sure comes at a cost. And I'm so stinking TIRED all the time! I know there's lots and lots of other folks doing the same thing, and I hate to complain, but I'm a little cranky and (oooh! Guess what?! Wait for it...) tired. You caught me at just the right moment for crabbiness! Never blog when crabby (or hungry or drunk or whatever).
So that wasn't my intention at all, just to launch into a tirade like that. Sorry. You're here to see some paintings, maybe? I sure wish I had more to show you. I'm lucky if I make enough watercolor time to do an Etsy update once a month. But here's a few from the last couple of months:
"The Tide Rushes In"

"Noleta"

"The Big Idea"

"The Bad Doll"

"The Glasses"

"Cup of Human Kindness"

"The Shop Girl"

"She was a Terrible Flirt"

"Hearts and Butterflies"

These are all pen and ink and watercolor on 140 lb paper, 2.5 x 3.5 inches. And, sorry, but they're all sold. Maybe some will make their encore as prints though!
Which do you like best?
And just maybe I can sweet-talk my husband into watching the kids for a bit tomorrow morning before he leaves for the shop. I can cram a lot of painting into an hour or two!

I hear ya sister! I myself haven't worked in months and it's making me quite cranky as well. Complain all you want! Kids are hard work alone, and trying to make an income and paint on top of all that is just plain difficult.
Right there with you...R
Your work is so lovely and touching and beautiful it practically brings tears to my eyes.
You deserve to spend all your time on these wonderful images.
If you sold them all you're doing okay.
Keep up the good work.Prints would be great.
Yeah, I was working 1 full-time job, 1 part-time job and doing my art part-time as well. I finally got rid of the part-time job so that I might have more time for the art. So I definitely know what you are going through!
I personally like "Hearts and Butterflies" the best. I just really love the more dramatic lighting in that one. You watercolors don't usually have that very often.
Good luck! Hopefully you'll find just the right balance and won't be so tired all the time.
Thanks for the kind words and sympathy guys! I actually did get a few hours of painting in that weekend, and it did me a world of good. I think when the baby gets older it'll be easier to make the time to paint. That's how I remember Esther, anyway. It might be another year or so, but hopefully he'll like hanging out in the studio too, just like his sister!
"posies for polly", yeah!
and...TIME DOESN´T(exi-s-t)
byers, make yours count!
Oh, you should ALWAYS paint. You have the unique ability to capture such unique expressions! You are very talented!
Oh, I like all these, but the ones I love and hope to see in your shop are: The Bad Doll, Terrible Flirt and The Big Idea.
I don't know if this will help, but at least know you have a fan who understands ALL about being tired. And let me tell you, sometimes you have to vent about it. A blog seems the perfect place.
Hang in there. You are very talented.
